How to stop loosing interest

I suffer with severe depression, I've had a lot of trauma over the years that's caused it.

Sometimes I can control it well and have stable mood periods for months and then I come crashing down usually from something like a change of routine, stress etc.

I do not drink as its a major trigger. I am not on anti depressants as I found they made me a zombie of my former self. I self medicate with private medical cannabis prescription and this ultimately serves me well as I get a good 8-9 hours sleep if I don't I get 3 hours of broken sleep which effects me badly. I tried counselling but the therapist said I needed time to process things before trying again as I kept breaking down.

The problem I have is that when my moods stable I enjoy creative hobbies. It keeps my mind happy and still.

When depression hits I give up on everything and want to get rid of it all. It's constantly yo-yoing.

Had a down fall this week as I came home from being with family who don't live near me and my mood just crashed. Now I want to give everything away again.

Husband is telling me just put it away until I feel better and don't need to look at it for now as I will regret it.

He knows how much I enjoy all my hobbies and how much it helps me mentally.

How do I get over this whole loosing Interest in everything? How do I keep my moods more stable? I'm sick of feeling like a loose canon ready to explode.

I don't know enough about depression to comment really (so keep that in mind).

Would a weekly 'treat day' be something that would keep you motivated and looking forward to something? It could be a meal out with your Husband or going somewhere that links in with one of your hobbies?

This is just a temporary solution and will cause more issues if not resolved. You should visit a health profesional.

Your husband’s advice sounds wise: put the hobbies aside rather than letting them go when your mood drops. Sometimes protecting the things that bring you joy until you feel more like yourself again can be an act of self-care.
