Am currently on 50mg a day, and when I went to see GP today for a review she siad that it could be very dangerous to get pregnant on it. Can't find anything to this effect on net-does anyone know?

All I know is that amitryptiline does bad things to your heart if taken in overdose as an adult, so I guess if you are taken 50mg to a embryo/foetus that might be a massive dose. If you are taking it as an antidepressant then you are better off taking one of the SSRI's like seroxetine, if you really need tobut you need to speak to your G.P about coming of the amitripyline and going to an alternative. If at all possible it is better not to take antidepressants at all if you can.

Hope that helps.

That was what I was thinking-think I'll try and wean myself off them.
Thanks
