Hi guys. Does anyone else really struggle with thoughtless or flippant comments people make, or is it just me?
I know I'm not the only one, and I know I'm a grown adult (and a mum of two boys!), but I get so worked up over them. I end up fixating and overthinking why someone would say something like that. You never seem to hear those comments being said to other people, so I start wondering whether they are and people just don't take them to heart, or whether people just don't like me.
I'm really struggling with it at the moment. I would never intentionally say something to put someone down, it's just not in my nature. I do wonder if I might have PMDD because it definitely gets worse at certain times in my cycle.
I know I'm not the centre of the world, and I'm not looking for sympathy. I just wish people were kinder. Does anyone else feel like this? If you do, how do you stop yourself from overthinking it? No hate please, I wish I didn’t feel like this, It's honestly exhausting. Xx

That's because you don't listen in to other people's conversations, that's all.

When someone makes a thoughtless or flippant comment, it says nothing about the person they are talking about, it says everything the person making the comment. Remember that.

Hi op. Sensitive person here, too.
I take insensitive comments to heart. But, I now also realise it says more about the person who says it, than you.
What comments are making you overthink. Op?

Hard relate. I will never understand the need some have to tear others down, for absolutely no reason at all. Treat others how you wish to be treated is the motto isn't it? Seemingly, lots missed the memo. I had a recent encounter which shook me up and still plays in my mind four weeks later, but nowadays I try my best to ignore and get on with my life. It really is a case of a them problem and not you. Whatever you do, don't adopt a fawn response and try desperately to get them to like you and reverse their opinion - it never ever works and only serves to mark you out as more of a target imo. Try and not let on you're rattled, as that's their aim.
