i have been prescribed 50mg steraline. Just wondering other people’s experiences when starting was it beneficial or any bad side effects.

I imagine you mean Sertraline? If so then I highly recommend it. It’s the difference for me between being stable and man against life or being utterly miserable, teary and angry. I get a tense jaw from it and I find the heat hard. But for me it’s been a game changer.

That’s great been mostly good for you. Did you experience anxiety first few weeks of insomnia?

Have you noticed any affect on your hair? Im wondering the same as the OP as I filled the prescription this time last week, I'm just too anxious about that as being a possible side effect...

(apologies to OP for high jacking the thread).

No I haven’t noticed any other side effects thankfully. Everyone is different though. I still think it’s worth trialling as it really can change your life and you may have zero side effects. It has allowed me to live life rather than exist

it has been life changing for my daughter but she needs 75mg. She also started on 25 and increased in increments of 25mg over a period of 4 months.

She got side effects (main one being bad nausea) when she started and each time she increased the dose. Took two weeks each time to settle.

50 mg wasn’t enough for her and she recently tried going back down to 5g but she felt worse so went back up to 75.

I was previously on 50mg for years and helped until my father passed away and relationship break up at same time. So my doctor increased to 100mg. A week later I never experienced anxiety like it in my life ended up in hospital. Since then I stopped all. But feel like I need something to help depression just so afraid of the anxiety again. I also suffer from alopecia on and off it so I know some people do lose hair and others don’t.

Dose changes can cause side effects but they do settle down. Please take your concerns to the gp and see if they can offer an alternative it sounds like you really could do with the support 💐
