How to feel less rejected

I have 2 kids at uni
Their dad and I split when they were in their teens but an amicable split - we live ten mins apart

I feel the kids favour their dad more than me - they barely come to mine when they are back - I am an after thought / just wanted for lifts eg airport for holidays etc

It feels like a kick in the teeth really .

Why do you think this happens?

He spends more money on them than I do ( he can afford it )
