I’m going through a lot right now. I struggle with a high anxiety and am on sertraline which does help. My mother is elderly and I have a few caring duties, my adult DD is ND and I have a lot of worries about her future (shes not working, struggles with things, etc). I don’t really share much with anyone at work, but should I share more?

Hi op. Fellow anxiety sufferer here. I share with people at work. It helps me to offload my worries. Do you think it would help you?

Find someone you trust to shear with , I use to do this but now I over shear . It may help to write things down .

What type of job do you do? Is it one where people have time to share lots? I don’t mind being a now and then supportive ear, but I don’t have the capacity to be a vessel for trauma dumping at work

Does your work have an employee assistance programme?

I think it can be helpful to let one's manager know when youre dealing with a lot of stress (so they can support you) (assuming they are supportive...).

And sharing with friends is also good (assuming they are supportive...).

But it can be hard to get the balance right - not to over burden other people, sometimes they want to advise when you only need them to listen & care. And once you've shared you cant unshared.

So sometimes it's better & easier to share with a disinterested person who's not connected to your daily life.

You could see if there are any talking therapy services in your area. My sister’s friend volunteers and it’s a regular phone a person in need, say 1 hr every week. Quite unlike the Samaritans - who would also listen, if you call them.
