Increasing sertraline causing worse anxiety

Ten years ago I started sertraline because I was really struggling with perimenopause anxiety and low mood. Overall it's worked well and completely got rid of the anxiety.

I'm nearly 56 and it looks like my periods are finally, finally stopping because I've not has a period since February. But over the last month the horrible anxiety has come back. It comes and goes.

So, 5 days ago I increased the dose from 100mg to 125mg. Until yesterday I felt fine, quite calm etc, but since last night the anxiety has just got worse. How long do I stick it out for?

menopausal anxiety is a whole other thing, didn’t even know what it was until I was menopausal. Maybe try HRT.. you can take both.

Thanks, but HRT is off the table as I had ER+ breast cancer 6 years ago.

It’ll be due to the change in dose. It always causes anxiety at first. Awful isn’t it

Yes, it has shocked me how bad it feels. I can't remember it being this bad increasing when I started it 10 years ago. I thought just a 25mg increase would be a breeze.

Have you had the same experience when you increased?

It does seem a bit extreme op. I wonder if it’s worth going back to the doc if it doesn’t improve? Im actually lowering mine from 100 to 50 as Um planning on switching to venlefaxin, the sertraline was only helping me so much and I want to try a different type x
