Can my nursery employer sack me after I disclosed an overdose?

Can you be sacked for disclosing to your work you took an overdose of your prescription medication? The overdose required a few hours observations and nothing like this has happened before. I work in a private nursery in Scotland and can’t find a clear answer. I was vulnerable when I disclosed the reason for being in hospital and I’m now worried they will sack me for this. This happened at home during the night during a very low moment which I regret.

Hi.

I didnt want to leave you hanging - I dont know the answer but I would imagine it would depend on how long you've been there, and what their general support/management style is - i say that as an ex nursery nurse where actually my management team werent supportive and it made things worse for me.

rest up.

Hi @T12344 sorry I don't know the answer but I don't think you've done the wrong thing in letting your employer know. Hopefully it means they can support you. Can you contact citizens advice? Or is there a union or similar you can contact? Is it a long term condition you are managing? I know these can be treated as a disability in some circumstances which provides you with different protections in employment law.
