She is early 30s and has had OCD since a small child. Mainly around food hygiene, cleanliness and emetophobia.
She has an amazing job but masks....she has friends but recently her OCD has become overwhelming and she struggles to socialise.
She sees a therapist twice a month and wont go on medication. She has done in the past.
She broke down yesterday and told me how awful her life is ...she lives 200 miles away. She has never had a relationship as she cant have anyone in her space and hates physical contact.
How can I help?

sadly though it would be lovely to wave a magic wand and make her life better it is not possible. All you can do is encourage her to keep seeing the therapist you did not say why she wont take the medication anymore but it may help her? could she move nearer you? sorry i cannot be more use but i send love to you both

Thank you for replying.
No she can't move .... she was on meds before and they didn't help plus she put on weight. I am encouraging her to rethink.

Twice a month therapy for that level of intrusion to her daily life is probably inadequate. What kind of therapy is it? Does she think it's working? Do you? Would she change and could she afford twice a week, rather than twice a month?

She is quite unwilling to talk about her therapy but I've suggested increasing how often she goes. Money isn't an issue. I think a big issue is she doesnt talk to her friends about it....all of them are unaware of the OCD. Ditto work...she has stopped eating during the day as she wont use the lunch facilities or fridges. Work is unaware of her situation.

I am with her now and she is brighter but I will talk properly with her tomorrow.
