Anyone else prescribed pregabalin to augment their antidepressants?

Just that. After what I believe is the strongest anti-depressant combo (Venlafaxine + Mirtazapine) failed to impact my depression and anxiety in any way, I have been prescribed 100mg Pregabilin to augment it.
Ive had a “run in” week on 50mg and have increased it to 100 mg today. I can’t see it mentioned anywhere else on the Mental Health forum.

I have had it prescribed, but it was for pain. I take it during flare-ups, maybe for a week or two, then taper down. While my experience isn’t really relevant to you, what I can say though is that I have found it helpful short-term although it took me a while to get there.

Wishing you all the best. Flowers

It’s an anti anxiety medication. It does not augment antidepressants. There are more evidence based options for that ie quetiapine, aripiprazole or lithium.

I have it but it was prescribed for anxiety. I take quetiapine to augment my antidepressant. I do have bipolar disorder also so it’s primarily my mood stabiliser but I know it’s definitely used to augment.

Thank you all for your responses. The psychiatrist did say a mood stabiliser “could” be the next step but he seemed very reluctant to prescribe one. I’m on 4 weeks trial of pregabalin in addition to Venlafaxine and Mirtazapine. I’ll see how it goes.
