What medication might GP add to citalopram for severe anxiety?

I have a GP appointment to discuss medication. I want to increase my Citalopram to the max dose of 40mg for depression. But I also want to try an additional medication too, because my anxiety is so severe right now. I take propranolol too, but that only helps with heart palpitations and relaxes my physical anxiety. What are they likely to prescribe alongside these? I'm so sick of feeling like this and want to find the right med combination desperately.

Citalopram did absolutely nothing for my anxiety and I was on it months so maybe it isn’t working for you? I’m now on 225mg of venlafaxine which is working brilliantly. Propranolol only deals with the physical result of anxiety and not the anxiety itself so it seems an odd choice. Lots of luck and I hope your GP is helpful for you 🤞

I'm on a small dose of diazepam to help me just now, takes the edge of the anxiety while I'm waiting for my sertraline increase to hopefully kick in x

Oooh Venlafaxine. That drug knocks all the others out. I love it. It’s amazing.

Smd I’ve been on most of them.
