I’ve recently been diagnosed with some mental health problems and one part of it is getting fixated on people who’ve done things to me in the past. Even if it was years ago, I can’t seem to let it go and my mind keeps going back to it.
I’ve got the into serious trouble for harassment against these individuals.

I’m going on a waiting list for therapy and have just been prescribed medication. I’m wondering if medication can help reduce these kinds of intrusive/fixated thoughts and how much it might help.

If anyone has experienced similar or has tips for dealing with fixations while waiting for therapy, I’d appreciate it. I don’t need judgement I’m trying to get help.

Rumination. That's how my counsellor described it. The cow has 4 stomachs and that's often how I process thoughts. Repeatedly. I was advised to take the negative thought out of the box. Hold it up to the light. Acknowledge it. It exists. Don't pretend it doesn't. Now put it away. Shut the box. Try that every time until it becomes second nature. Glad you have signed up for some help. Best of luck 🍀 🤞
