How long should I be off with WRS for?

I finally signed off sick with work related stress recently. Work had been bad for a while - it was an incredibly stressful and tense environment for various reasons. It got to a point where I was physically shaking, nauseous and light headed at the thought of going in. The actual job is great, but the people I work with are what made it so stressful and the lack of support the bosses were giving.

I am only part time, 3 days a week. How long would be reasonable to stay off? I'm two weeks in and still feel ill at the thought of going back. When I do go back, I want to be very direct and honest about how it's been and try to get them to make changes. I would hate to quit because of the situation.

Would two months off be ridiculous? One month? I really don't know. I feel like I need time for my nervous system to calm down again.

Sorry you’re struggling OP. I’ve personally never known anyone in my experience to have more than a few weeks for work related stress. My worry would be, what is going to change? If the work situation is stressing you out then another 4 weeks won’t change that, I’d focus on communicating with work now and figuring out what can be done to get things resolved because ultimately if it’s things that can’t or won’t change you’d be better off looking for another job.
