Blood in the toilet bowl

Sorry if this is TMI but I’m finding the toilet bowl is full of blood when I have a poo since starting Duloxetine.
Has anyone else had similar on Duloxetine (or other ADs) as it does say it can cause intestinal bleeding?

I think you should go back to your doctor as that’s quite a serious side effect.

I don’t have any pain so I thought it can’t be that serious but I am sleeping most of the day with no energy at all.
Haven’t got the energy to try to get a doctors appointment.

Pain is irrelevant. If you’re bleeding internally, you need to see a doctor. If you’re exhausted it’s probably because you’re losing a lot of blood, on top of depression.

Is the blood red or very dark? And when you say the toilet bowl is full of blood do you mean your poo has blood or there’s fresh blood?

Either way, I would strongly advise you to get this seen quickly. I would call 111 immediately and anticipate they will send you to A&E.

If you’re taking ibuprofen or aspirin for pain relief, stop until you’ve had the bleeding investigated. If you take blood thinners (including aspirin) for any medical reason make sure you tell this to whatever medical professionals you talk to.

I think you definitely need to make an appointment. It will be more helpful than posting on MN.

Edited

It looks quite dark in the water but some red runs down the side of the bowl. Not sure if it is actually inside the poo as well

The problem with internal bleeding is that no-one can tell how serious it is without investigation, and a small slow bleed can be dangerous on its own but can also turn into a catastrophic bleed if left. GI bleeding is not usually painful which is why it can go undetected for long time.

I don’t want to terrify you or make you panic but if this were me or a family member I would phone 111 immediately. Now it’s daytime you could potentially try your GP for an urgent appointment but I’d expect them to send you to A&E or urgent care if there’s one near you. Please get some medical advice ASAP @ChocIcecream

Still alive. I haven’t been to the toilet today so I’m dreading what will come out when I do (Sorry for TMI again 😃)

Glad to hear that! Get some advice soon, it might not be all that bad but better safe than sorry.
