I’ve been prescribed fluoxetine and have never taken MH medications before. I think it’s pretty normal to feel apprehensive. Looking for experiences of this medication please.

Fluoxetine changed and saved my life.
im currently on sertraline as im breastfeeding and it didn’t agree with my little one. The second I stop I’m running back to fluoxetine

Been on it for many yesrs. Only a low dose but utterly makes a big difference to my MH. No real side effects for me
Hope it works for you

My daughter was prescribed Fluoxetine to help with a period of depression and anxiety. She was on it for a maximum of 6 months and I really feel it helped to turn her life around. No side effects either.

Thank you everyone that’s very reassuring.

It's been life changing for me. I feel like my old self. I was scouring mumsnet in the first few weeks for positive stories as I was so desperate to feel better, and now that need for reassurance has gone and I'm living my life again. The first few weeks were up and down. But I'd say gradually after about 8 weeks, I'm back to having a life with the 'normal' ups and downs, where I am totally able to deal with the downs without it getting me down and anxious. Good luck!

Absolutely life changing for me. Without that little wonder drug I honestly don’t think I’d be here today.

Changed my life too. Having tried sertraline and escitralopam with no relief at at, I started Fluoxitine and within 36 hours it was like someone opened the curtains and let the light in. I took it for four months before I decided to come off due to pregnancy. I’d have stayed on it a lot longer if not pregnant because it was very stabilising.
