PIP review

Skyspectacular · 19/01/2026 09:23

I’ve just had a text from DWP saying they are starting my PIP review. How long is it taking from them receiving the review form back until they make a decision? Does it usually involve an interview for the review? Thanks for any recent experiences

It is anybody's guess as to how long it will take them, to complete a review. Not very helpful, I know. The only positive is, at least the payments continue in the interim.

Ive always had an interview but dc1 hasn't so I think it depends on diagnosis/evidence (dc is easier to evidence).
I had my review paperwork in August, sent it back sept, had two texts since stating that they have my paperwork.
Last time I had a review it took 15 months so I'm not expecting anything soon. That was three years ago.

Yes @Skyspectacular do expect a long wait..... They are not rushing to catch up with that massive backlog from Covid. Most 'official' bodies don't seem to be. 🙄

Once you have filled in your form, and sent it off, they will text you to let you know they've got it (normally after a few weeks,) but don't expect a date for your assessment for about 9 months (at the earliest!)

Once you have sent if off, just try to put it to the back of your mind. Many people worry about it, and stress and fret, and some people say it makes them feel kinda trapped. (Like, in limbo.) Some people I have spoken to said they are afraid to book a holiday or anything in case the assessment turns out to be when they're away!

Best thing to do is just not worry and just carry on living your life. It will very likely be September-October at the earliest though when you have an assessment. (And it will probably be a telephone one. Not definitely, but more likely than a face to face.) They will contact you by text to let you know they are still dealing with it every 2-3 months.

Good luck. Smile

I have just received a text saying they have my review forms and wait to see if I need assesment which I will as it's general I'm in the same position and worried hopefully you will hear soon iv heard it's alot quicker at moment

Skyspectacular · 18/02/2026 13:01

Just had a text to say my review is complete. I haven’t had a phone assessment so does that mean it is likely to continue as it was or have people had it removed at review without any phone assessment?

When I got this, I rang up and they confirmed that my award would continue. Give them a ring? At worst, they tell you they don’t know.

Ineedcoffeenow · 18/02/2026 13:52

Sorry, I should have said I hadn’t had any kind of interview. They just approved it based on my earlier claim.

Thanks, hopefully that’s the case with me too. The text does say not to ring them but to wait for the letter.

It is going to be difficult waiting for the letter. I’m so worried about losing my PIP

Ring the PIP number and choose the automated option where it tells you when your next payment is due. It’ll tell you when and what payment to expect, so you can kind of ‘get ahead’ of the letter iyswim.

I did this while waiting for the letter which took two weeks to arrive fgs.

They received my completed PIP review on 14/11, and it was completed by10/12. No phone assessment or anything. The outcome was positive. I kept my award.

Thanks @hairyunicorn.
They received my completed review on the 10th Feb so it has only taken 8 days for it to be completed. Hopefully that’s good news a

I never had any texts about it but I have to fill in forms every few years. The last two times they didn't make me do an interview.
Once they just didn't contact me at all for three years after I sent my forms, but just kept paying. Last one I did the forms and about three weeks later had decision letter.

It does sound hopeful. You may also be placed in the ‘Ongoing’ award category. I think you’ll need the letter to be sure of this.

Skyspectacular · 26/02/2026 19:24

I received the letter now - my PIP has been renewed for another three years. Phew.
