Citalopram side effects

Hi. Can anyone tell me around what time they started seeing an improvement in their side effects? I was originally prescribed 10mg of Citalopram for anxiety. But I had to drop down to 5mg and the side effects have been too bad. I’m now on day 10 and feel my anxiety is just getting worse and worse. I’ve had all side effects (headaches, nausea, night sweats, low mood) I know everyone says persevere, but I’m just wondering for how long. Thanks.

IME I had nothing like those kind of side effects on 10mg. Personally I think I’d try and swap to a different one.

I had terrible side effects on citalopram so stopped. I'm now on fluxotine which is working for me. I think it is a case of trying a few to see which one suits you.

It is used to treat anxiety but Citalopram somehow seems an odd choice given one of its most notorious side effects is an increase in anxiety symptoms when first started

I had night sweats for as long as I was on it, then the Dr changed me to fluoxetine, which made me really nauseous and lightheaded for a couple of weeks (felt like early pregnancy but couldn’t have been as I hadn’t had sex) after which it settled down and I felt better.

Ask for a different one. I was also prescribed 10mg, (was told it was a ‘tiny’ dose), and it made me suicidal within days. I was taken off it immediately and a note added to my records that I’m not to be prescribed it again. I’ve been given mirtazapine, but haven’t started them yet as I’m terrified of the same thing happening.
