Hi

Really new to this and struggiling quite a bit atm. My health hasn't been great for the last 12 months (over active thyroid and low iron related to heavy periods). Over the last couple of months it has spiralled into extreme health anxiety peaking in the last couple of weeks.
I have a lot of physical symptoms (epigastric pain, heartburn, feeling lightheaded, fatigued as soon as I wake up, very very emotional and irritable, intermittent nausea) I have this constant dread in my head that something bad is about to happen and I won't be here anymore for my children and husband.

My DH and friends all have told me they think my physical problems now are anxiety related. Its taking over my life. Im signed off from work and worried ablut losing my job when I do go back due to being off for over a month now.

Im just wondering if anyone else had similar symptoms and it just been anxiety related?

Ive also been prescribed setraline but with my anxiety already I am terrified to take them for fear of the side effects.

I have many in my family taking sertraline and it has been life changing for them. I would consider trying it, unless you feel there's been a physical cause.

Yes, I’ve had most of the symptoms you list. For me it was partly physical (early menopause, exhaustion) and then compounded by anxiety to the point of burnout. What helped was to exhaust all the medical checks so I was confident nothing was being missed. And then I found I could accept feeling crap a lot of the time without worrying about a cause, and with that I felt crap less of the time. I’m still not feeling great, but I’m a lot more functional. For me I needed to know I’d checked for physical causes before I could ignore the symptoms - and with this and that it took the best part of a decade.

Read up on thyroid/anxiety/cortisol/dread connections.

Sorry I am replying almost a month after my post.
I have been spiralling. Yet to commit to the sertaline. Every day is a struggle. Ive ended up in a&e so many times and been sent away as bloods are great and I look well. My anxiety and physical symptoms are getting worse by the day to the point I now literally cannot function out of the house anymore. Its massively impacting my ability to a Mum and a wife now.
