Side effects from missing one citalopram

Anyone else miss one day and get side effects? I notice when I move my eyes they take a while to catch up… really weird feeling! Seems mad for missing just one dose! Am on 20mg and have been for 3 years.

I would imagine you still have the medication in your system after one day, so the eye issue might be something else?

I assumed that but only happens when I miss one! Really strange that it happens so fast. I did once not have them for a few days as I run out and chemist was closed and the symptoms were so much worse. Just seems a very quick side effect!

I’m getting zappy electric shocks in my head since tapering off Citalopram. Also, extremely irritable and tearful when I normally don’t cry at all. I hate bastard antidepressants and the pigging psychiatrists who push them on us without thinking about the long term consequences.

I do start to notice it if I'm 12 hours late. Just feel like too many thoughts are coming.

No, 'lagging' vision's a well-known effect of depression; it can kick in whenever antidepressant levels have dropped below average. I had it the other day!

It's oddly interesting - sometimes, it's like the effect when you take a still photo of a moving object, with blurred after-images, or even 'frames' along the motion path.

Serotonin plays a crucial role in the optic nerve by acting as a neuromodulator that gates visual information flow to the brain, influencing signal transmission to the thalamus and potentially impacting orientation processing

That’s what I feel like now I’m off them. My brain is in overload

The effect you describe is classic early withdrawal effect from all SSRI’s. Also: brain ‘zaps’, dizziness, ringing ears, flu-like shivers. Will resolve once you take the next dose, and won’t have any ongoing effect.

I get this if I miss 1 Venlafaxine, I take 150mg per day. My teeth chatter, I get tremors, and lose the ability to pronounce words. It’s immediate within a day. I take 75mg am and pm and not taking it is very bad. I’m guessing citalopram is similar

I’m not on them anymore but I used to get the exact same sensation and it was one of the reasons I was desperate to come off them.
