Sertraline stopped working

I’ve been on sertraline for over 20 years. Was on 50 but increased to 100 early this year. Not feeling any better so increased to 150 which just made me feel numb so went back to 100. My problem is that I still feel down on a 100 but don’t want to increase. My counsellor says I am depressed (she did a quiz) and that my body will be used to the sertraline. I tried escitalopram about 3 months ago for a month, but migraines were awful so switched back to sertraline. I don’t know where to go from here and GP doesn’t seem to know either. Can anyone offer any suggestions please? I’m not sure whether to try and see a specialist (psychiatrist?) for better medication advice. Many thanks
ps no option to choose depression as subjects do had to choose ante/post natal depression!

Sorry you are feeling so unwell. You'll get better replies if you ask MNHQ to move this to the mental health board x

Definitely go back to the doctor and switch. I was in citalopram for 20 years and that stopped working. Doctor added in mirtazapine which worked well but had rubbish side effects. This summer I switched to fluoxetine with zero issues. I had to tweak the dose but my mental health is great again now.

I thought the latest research was that meds for mental distress only work by placebo effect?

Are you just taking medication? It was never designed for that. Talking therapies and other measures are needed alongside medication. And yes sertaline has been proven ineffective anyway.

What is dont understand is how some antibiotics depressants work better than others?
