Just wondering if I should ask for this to be added to my dds meds.

She is on sertraline and propanol but still has anxiety that holds her back a lot

She is audhd so obvs some is due to that but I'd like her to feel able to do the things she desperately wants to do but can't.

She currently has emdr therapy too with a trusted long term therapist. this is helping but I'm not sure it will be enough on its own.

Any positive feedback greatly appreciated

My psychiatrist is talking about putting me on this .. He said he has seen it really work for people like me - whatever that means..

He decided to increase my anti depressants first

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 09/10/2025 17:11

Thanks starlight. May I ask are you autistic or adhd?

What do you think he meant by that?

Current diagnosis is generalised anxiety disorder with depression with suspected ADHD

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/10/2025 08:59

I found pregabalin blew my anxiety right away.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/10/2025 11:28

Thank you. I'm thinking I might ask her if her psychiatrist should add another med. also considering medical cannabis.

How long have you been on it. I worry about dependency with preg as the reviews say it build tolerance very quickly.

I wasn’t on it long because it gave me really bad acid and stomach pains. And l was on a low dose. About 3 months?

It was amazing though. Streets above anything else.

Venlafaxine. It’s pretty good. One of the best for anxiety I’d say.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/10/2025 11:53

Is that an ssri?

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

Sorry forgot to tag. is that an ssri. Are you audhd if you dont mind me asking.

l’m suspected adhd. Venlafaxine is a SNRI. It hits on noradrenaline at higher levels and is really good for ADHDers.

My dd is Audhd. She’s sailing on Sertraline ( previous crippling anxiety) Fluoxetine didn’t touch her. Sertraline had a high dopamine take up. Which is why it suits her.

hth

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/10/2025 12:02

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow my dd does say her sertraline helps her a lot but it's not quite hitting the anxiety enough.
Thanks for the input tho I appreciate it.

Maybe she needs a higher dose?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/10/2025 12:36

Is she on ADHD meds? They can help against anxiety.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/10/2025 15:39

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow
She tried the adhd meds but they were ineffective or mad her angry or zombie like.

She has upped her Sert too 100mgs. I'd rather not up them more tbh.

Did she try the alternatives to methylphenidate?

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/10/2025 19:58

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow
She tried all the sims and non sims The sims made her angry and the non sims made her zombie like.

In the US they use a drug which is only licensed here for smoking cessation. But that’s meant to be amazing.

The nearest here is Venlafaxine or maybe Lofepramine.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/10/2025 20:11

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow
Is that Wellbutrin. I really wanted to try her on that but we couldn't get the script filled Her psychiatrist was willing to try it but no where to get it from. So frustrating

Yeah, that’s so annoying.

Mysimba is a slimming pill which contains the same thing. Would that be obtainable.

Lofepramine is an anti depressant that just works on norenpiphrene. I think that is similar.

Otherwise Venlafaxine which is an SNRI. Nasty to get off though.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/10/2025 22:59

He can prescribe that smoking thing off label. Might be easier to find.

My dd has just upped her sertraline to 100mg. It’s made a big difference. 50 mg is only a starting dose. It doesn’t work particularly well, it’s quite low. The max is 200.

l woukd rather mine didn’t have to take it too. But it’s really changed her quality of life.
