Hi all,
I have raging anxiety when I wake up everyday. Heart often racing. Horrible intrusive thoughts about my past or worries about the future. Has anyone had this and got any tips?

Thank you

Are you on hrt?

It could be the cortisol awakening response;

It's normal but it can often be mistaken for anxiety, especially if there's anxiety inducing stuff going on in your life. Box breathing when you wake can be very helpful – as can simply knowing that it's natural.

How about reading about Magnesium Glyconate (spelling ?). Holland and Barrett flog a good one. A few colleagues mentioned taking it for sleeping but noticed reduced morning anxiety. Good luck x

This was happening to me (along with insomnia and night sweats) and made me realise I needed HRT.

I get this and it seems to be getting worse (as in lasting for longer).

Sorry to hear. I am gradually trying all the obvious things. Limiting screens, limiting caffeine although thinking about virtually eradicating it. I get to sleep fine but wake up to a tsunami of dreadful fears/ thoughts, often with heart racing. Hope yours improves

Yes, I’ve experienced that too. What helps me is deep breathing before getting out of bed, journaling my thoughts, and doing gentle morning stretches or meditation to calm my mind.
