Hi folks,
i have been taken Venlafaxene 150mg, following a crisis which has been ongoing my psychiatrist recommended adding in Quetapine 50mg. Its to quieten my mind as my thoughts are racing..
i am afraid with this medication as I know its used for Schizophrenia and bi polar.
anyone any experience of this medication, does it work? I’m concerned about adding another medication into the mix.
Ive researched the medication and 50mg appears a small amount.
My partner is concerned I will end up drowsy.. me to
thanks
Az

I take quetiapine and have for years. I was drug resistant to so many mainstream antidepressants I was willing to give it a try. It quieted racing/intrusive thoughts and lifted the lid on my depression. It will make you sleepy. I take mine at bedtime and it will most likely make you hungry, as in extreme craving. I meal plan for a yogurt, protien bar, etc. If you're going to try taking it during day time I'd plan on not going anywhere and see how you do.

Thank you so much for your reply, it’s very kind of you to take the time.
i guess it’s a matter of life & death for me as I cannot live with a racing mind so I think I will give them a try

I just thought i would post an update.
50mg twice a day with a 25mg tablet for when my thoughts started racing.
I feel the best i have ever been.
I do need to watch the extreme cravings, but as yesitsme44 had suggested I meal plan a snack into my day and i haven’t gained any weight. I sleep all night and my thoughts have changed i am no longer in crisis or a danger to myself.

This medication has literally changed my life.

That’s really positive op. I’ve been wondering about seeing a private psychiatrist and asking first venlefaxin and quitiepine.
justdont want to feel spaced-out. At the moment im on 100mg sertraline and my anxiety and intrusive thoughts are spiralling. Ive felt bad for months now and have requested a appointment.

Quietipine works differently at lower doses, which you are on, and higher doses. At high doses, which can be 600+mg a day for psychosis, it interacts with different receptors.
it’s a widely used anti anxiety, and anti depressant at low doses.
