Hi, I have some CBT for general anxiety. Can anyone advise me how to get the best out of them? I feel at a junction in my life and need some direction.

Be honest with your therapist about your experiences.
Give them honest feedback on therapy and how you are finding it/ them (they should ask)
Try things out between sessions - be prepared to go out of your comfort zone (but not be overwhelmed)
You could ask for materials they recommend to read.
Make notes in therapy together of things it's helpful to remember - research shows most discussions get forgotten/ muddled if you don't.

Good luck - there's a good evidence base it's an effective treatment, but you also need to feel a good 'fit' with the therapist.

My experience of it is that it is very structured and task based. I don't spend much time with the therapist but she gives me the next step of the process each time we meet.

To get the most out of it, I would say really so the work / tasks in between sessions.

There are different methods so it depends on which one is used.
