I don't know why but something just isn't right. I've had depression in the past, I feel like ringing the Samaritans but I know there are people a lot worse off than me they should be helping.

Just wish I could snap out of it

Sorry that you are feeling like this. If you are depressed or just very down you can’t just snap out of it. It will take time and sounds like you need some support.
Make an appointment to see your GP. Recognising that you aren’t feeling OK is an important first step.
If you need to speak to someone tonight, it’s good that you have reached out on MN.
It is OK to phone the Samaritans if you feel the need.

Thank you for your reply, I was on antidepressants for 4 years from 2015 after having suicidal thoughts. Breakdown of marriage, work stresses etc, this isn't that bad and I'm not tearful or anything I just feel low and at the moment could just do with someone to talk to

Has anything triggered it this time do you think? Did the antidepressants help you?
Do you have family or friends nearby?

Part of depression and low self esteem is feeling as though you're not worthy enough to help. Samaritans are there for anyone to talk. I would make an appointment to see your GP.

Sending a bit of solidarity. Really hope you start to feel a bit better.

Thank you everyone, feeling a bit brighter today. I have no idea what brings it on as I'm in a very good place right now with things.
Am engaged to a lovely woman and job ok, I suppose depression is something this never truly goes away
