Sertraline side effects

hi, I have been prescribed sertraline for anxiety and started today at 50mg dose. After just a few hours i started feeling spaced out and dizzy. Really thirsty and hot flushed. I know these are common symptoms but I don’t feel able to drive to take my children to and from nursery or even drive myself to work whilst feeling like this and am aware it can take a few weeks to settle. I don’t have any other help and there’s no public transport to the nursery or work and I couldn’t afford taxis each day.

just after any advice really as I’m thinking of just stopping already after just one day.

My experience of SSRIs was that the first week or two were awful, I think I had a week off work with it once, same when stopping. Is 50mg the lowest dose they could start you on?

After the bad start, they were extremely helpful though and kept my anxiety manageable for years.

Could you plan to start them again in a week or two, and plan to get as much help and support with your little ones lined up in anticipation? Might a sick note for a week help?

Have a conversation with the person who prescribed them and see if they have any suggestions.

i had the same when I started - changed to taking it at nighttime so I slept through the grogginess! Could try that and see if it helps at all

Thank you both. Unfortunately I don’t have any one that can help me with the children for a prolonged period.

i will try switching to the evening and see how that goes!

I switched to night time to help with fatigue, unfortunately I found that if I take it after about 9am I get the most awful acid reflux, so I’m back to mornings. Luckily the fatigue passed after a few weeks and it doesn’t affect me now.
