Escitilopram- help

Hi, I’ve been on escitilopram for 7 months. I stopped taking it for a week (mistake) I’ve started again, I’m on day 4 and feeling dizzy, sleepy and dry mouth. Anybody any experience of stopping this for a week, then going back on? Are the side effects likely to last long? Could really do with some reassurance

So you got all the horrible side effects but they went quickly? Can you remember how long? 10 days until our holiday and I'm panicking

Not long, a few days I think, definitely settled down quite quickly
it does cause anxiety to increase a bit when it is kicking in, but so worth it as it really helps

Yes Im on it and the withdrawal is horrible. It is often described as brain zaps. It should stop almost i.mediately once you are back on them within a day or two.

Thanks both, I'm super anxious, but it's the dizziness, dry mouth and tiredness. Worst day yet at day 4

Have you ever missed a whole week?
I was really ill with asthma and on steroids and just didn't take them. So regretting it now

I found it took me about 3 weeks to settle on it. Apparently it's one of the worst ones for being bumpy at the start. So don't worry you are not going mad and it will get better!

Yes I have, it was horrible but you soon recover once you start taking them again.

What dose are you on @jenny38? I'm wanting to stop taking them but am dreading the withdrawal. I'm on citalopram 40mg, I think its the same as escitalopram.

I'm on 5mg. I think ti stop you need a long reduce down period.
I'm on day 10 going back on, no longer sick, less dry mouth still have a bit of upset tummy and dizziness.

I think I'm getting confused and the 2 drugs can't be the same then as I started on 30mg. And went up to 40mg.
I hope you settle down and start to feel better soon.
