Hi @Weelil , I'm on Mirtazapine, 45mg per day. It does get easier, though differing times for differing people. It is way, WAY, better than the Venlafaxine I used to be on - nothing like the side-effects of that; I had to be weaned off it, it was awful. Keep going.

Hope things get better for you very soon. x

Thank you. I am on 15mg and I’m struggling but doctor told me to give it time :(

I think by day 10 I no longer felt like a zombie.

It does get better!! I promise! Try and go to bed earlier if you can. I felt groggy and a bit woozy for a couple of weeks and gradually increased to 45 mg in the end for a short while… I didn’t think it was working as hadn’t felt better after a few weeks then after about 5/6 weeks I woke up and I felt positive, my mood had massive improved. Like really, deeply but not in a manic way! Just like I felt optimistic, positive etc. I tapered down after a while (gradually, over a few months) and am still on 7.5mg at night as it really endures i get deep sleep and my mood has remained so much better!!

blunderwood · 05/11/2025 16:08

I was on 15mg too for about a year (just upped to 22.5mg) It deffo goes away, the early days of being zombiefied will pass.

I lasted 4 weeks on this then stopped as I felt it was making me feel worse! I am now on citalopram and feel so much better!

That's great to hear @Weelil - I'm really glad you've found something that works for you. Sometimes it can seem a bit relentless until we find something that suits us better.
Best wishes to you. x
