Back again regarding this mole

I attended a private dermatologist in March as I was having bother with a mole on my shoulder. She looked at it with her dermascope and said it didn't look like anything interesting and it was a intradermal nevus. She offered to remove it but it was over £1000 and I couldn't afford it. So I opted to have it removed elsewhere via plasma pen. Everything was fine until a few weeks later I ended up with a red raised lump which I think is the scar. I then noticed it has a white ring around it. Google then told me this can be Melanoma which has got me in a state. I have finally received my dermatology appointment through the NHS which is in a few weeks and I'm terrified. My husband has told me I need to trust the private dermatologist and if she thought it was anything she would have done something about it

My DH had a BCC diagnosed by the NHS and we then paid for MOHS surgery to have it removed following a private appt with a brilliant dermatologist. Definitely listen to the private consultant’s opinion.
As an aside my DD1 had a harmless naevus removed at our GP surgery and that now looks like a flat red mark which is her scar. It did take about four weeks to heal properly.

Sorry this happened to you! I don't think any of us can really say. Think of the facts as of now. You were told by a qualified person that this is nothing to worry about. Getting it checked again is good but it is belt and braces. You can spend the wait worrying or not worrying, it won't change the outcome but if you can manage not to worry, you will save yourself a lot of stress/extra stress, for no reason. You've done everything you can and should be doing. The fact that you've already been told it's fine should give you some peace of mind. It probably is ok and hopefully you'll have double confirmation soon.

I was actually doing really well until I got the NHS appointment through. It's all came back to fear and worry. I feel like I can't get through a day without being sick with worry that it's going to be something sinister. I keep reading the letter from the private place trying to be rational but it's so hard with health anxiety

It's completely understandable. Maybe you could ring the department booking line and ask if they have any sooner cancellation appointments that you could take at short notice? It might bring it forward and give you less time to worry. Hope all goes well and if your mind gets carried away, try and find a distraction, get up and go for a walk or anything to break the chain of thought.

I've tried getting a sooner appointment with no luck. I've got so much exciting things coming up and I can't look forward to them as this is constantly on my mind
