Sertraline help

I am on day 11 of starting sertraline 50mg for the first time.

I feel dreadful on it, sweating and shaking and generally more tense and anxious.

When will this improve? Seriously tempted to stop it.

Don't worry, it will 100% improve.

It took me a few weeks to feel more settled on Sertaline. I've been on it for a number of years now and it's significantly improved my mental health. Hang in there!

You must be about to turn a corner. Day 9 or so for me.

I just feel really jittery on it, especially my hands and the back of my head.

sweat pours off me even just going for a walk. Fingers crossed I’m through the worst of it soon.

I’m on day 6 of starting sertraline. My GP suggested taking a half dose for the first 2 weeks then moving up? I’ve got some very mild symptoms but touch wood nothing too bad - not sure if that’ll make the move up to 50 more bareable 🤞🏼

Have you been on other ssris OP, before sertraline? The reason I ask, is that I had a very bad reaction to sertraline and I also can't tolerate any other antidepressants in this category. They send my anxiety sky high and I can't get a wink of sleep on them at all. If it doesn't get any better, perhaps ask about mirtazapine - it acts in a different way to ssri drugs and has very low start up side effects.

I felt really wired the first few days then strangely chilled for a while - it then evened out. One tip (learnt the hard way) always take sertraline with a drink - if you don't and it sticks in your oesophagus you will get a really bad burning pain - the first time it happened to me I thought I was dying - I wasn't it's just a horrible side effect. Taken with a drink I've never had any issues with my throat/stomach - it's a well known issue.
