Anyone in UK managed to get a prescription for Zyban (Wellbutrin/Buproprion) for depression-related loss of libido?

If so, how did you do it?

This is for my partner who takes 100mg of sertraline daily for depression. It’s killed his sex drive completely. I’ve read lots of things online that Zyban can stimulate sex drive if taken alongside the sertraline, but you can only get it in the UK to help stop smoking. You need to jump through hoops and get referred to a psychiatrist, which can take years on the nhs and they will prescribe it off label.

I’ve seen you can purchase Zyban online at Superdrug but it’s only a short term prescription until you stop smoking. Incidentally he does vape so would help with stopping that - he wouldn’t necessarily be lying, but we don’t want to get a short term prescription - we need something longer term - if it works that is.

I’d be really careful. It’s well-known for causing suicidal ideation as a side-effect.

There have been papers written on research testing and suicidal ideation only appeared when used by children, teens and young adults. My boyfriend is in his mid 40s, so hoping that won’t be the case. It is a massive concern though!
