I’m feeling very isolated and have burnt my bridges

I’m feeling down today and have had an episode of self pity. I feel I’ve put off someone I like very much.

i wanted to post on here because given my mood I might do something more self destructive if I don’t

There are strategies you can you use to stop your emotions from “hijacking everything and distorting things”. It is not a question of ‘controlling’ them, but sitting with them, accepting them and understanding that you do not have to act on them.

Think about what caused these feelings and whether there might be a healthier way of looking at and coping with them. Just breathing slowly and consciously and noticing how this makes your body feel can help. Above all, accept and value your emotions but do not act on them at the time you are feeling them.

And look after yourself and practise self-compassion. Try not to blame or judge yourself for these feelings but instead try to treat yourself with kindness and compassion. 💐
