Sertraline - What do I need to know?

Started last night as I was advised it can make people drowsy. It seemed to work and I've been in terms of drowsiness so far today.

However, I'm much more panicky and on edge than usual and feel like I want to unzip my skin. Could be the heat? I know it's best to stay in the shade and hydrated but sadly don't have the option of avoiding the sun completely.

Is there anything else I need to know that I can manage by preemptive action? I know they mention the side effects but just wondered if there were any 'hacks' to making the adjustment period easier.

I've been on sertraline for years and haven't experienced any side effects. I'm on 200mg a day if that helps.

Sertraline is generally the first option offered for depression. I know it works for many people but for me, I lasted three weeks. The anxiety and insomnia were next level.

I'm on Mirtazipine now (have been for ten years). Ask your GP for a medication assessment.

I’ve been taking it for years , I take mine just before bed to avoid any drowsiness during the day

Sertraline can absolutely cause and increase in anxiety at first. It’s pretty common.

I’m on 200mg. Started on 50mg and it made me more anxious at first and then settled.

The only side effect I have is that it makes me sweat more and I cannot handle the heat. Same for my daughter on 100mg.

It has never made me sleepy, my antipsychotics on the other hand…

It's for anxiety, I've been started on 50mg. The palpitations at times today have been awful.

Someone I know said that they had an awful couple of weeks before it settled down.

I'm hoping it does settle down as I'm not sure how long I can go like this.
