I started taking pregabalin yesterday evening. Today I was meant to be working I unexpectantly fell asleep for 3 hours in a chair had slurred speech vertigo, tingling hands feet and tongue. I wasn’t even capable of picking up my kids from school!

Is this normal or should I stop taking. I’m prescribed it for panic attacks.

please advise as I’m due another dose but can’t speak to anyone now?!

How much have you been prescribed?

This is absolutely the most common side effect and generally means you've started on too high a dose for you.

Only 50mg morning and night I thought this was a low dose?

In my experience completely normal. My DH started taking this 12 years ago and it has been a wonder drug. But for the first week or two it absolutely floored him, he could not stay awake, he was asleep at 7pm with drool running down his face and was slurring his words after taking it. But rest assured that does pass. What time of day do you take it? Could you start with one dose in an evening till you get a bit more used to it? Then at least if you’re sleepy it won’t matter so much. My DH is currently on 3000mg per day spread from 8am to 9pm and has a completely normal life on this dose, if that reassures you. Just be careful driving too obviously.

Yes - DH tried them for a while, and gabapentin. He was like he was stoned for the first fortnight. He persevered and got used to them but didn’t find they made much difference to the pain to make the dozyness worthwhile so stopped after a couple of years.

That is a low dose but drugs affect people really differently so I suppose it’s irrelevant isn’t it? I’m not a medical professional but I would just go with the evening dose for a week or two, then start with 25mg in the mornings too for a week or two, before going to the full 2
doses. Is that an option?
