Can my line manager ask me questions about my sick note?

I have CPTSD. My GP has given me a sick note for 1 week. My line manager has emailed asking if its work related stress or not. Can she do this?I have no intention of disclosing my diagnosis. Its private. The GP put stress on the sick note. Isn’t that enough?

If it is work related stress then it would be considered a duty for a manager to see what they can do to reduce stress at work so that's why she is asking.

If it isn't work related then maybe just say so?

Yes they can and it's sensible for them to ask because if it was work-related stress they ought to consider whether they need to make any adjustments to your work on your return.

You can just say it's not work-related without going into detail.
