SSRIs and heat

Is anyone else seriously struggling with the heat? I'm drinking litres of water and still dehydrated, too hot to sleep, even with an ice pack on my pillow.

Is this year worse than previous? I was pregnant and on SSRIs last Summer and didn't struggle as much as I am now.

Ladt summer was awful - very wet and much cooler. We had the wettest July since records began.

The hot dry weather this year will have had more of an impact. You need to make sure that you don't drink so much water that it affects your sodium levels.

Can You Drink Too Much Water?

We often hear about the importance of drinking plenty of water. But did you know that drinking too much water can be bad for your health?

Yes 🫠 I’m on duloxetine to dull my FND symptoms and wear a visible band to help me pace - fri and sat I’ve had the highest number of ‘red’ exertion alerts but not done anymore activity than a usual fri / sat. Drinking water (3l+) and trying to rest 🫠

Thankfully it's cooler tonight. Even with drinking 3L (plus coffee) I'm peeing maybe three times a day. Madness

Yes it is horrendous. I’m on 200mg sertraline. I cannot tolerate heat since going that high on it. My head sweats! My hair is constantly damp. At night my pillow is wet with sweat.

FNDandme · 22/06/2025 23:40

Much cooler tonight thankfully, I’ve been up and down today with proper heat sweat in the mix, been back in bed snoozing twice which is unheard of for me and trying to keep the mum guilt down as DH has been default parent today 🫠

Hi, I think some anti depressants can affect your potassium levels. So dehydration might be a sign that your electrolytes are out of whack.

So not just water, but foods that are hydrating too - Cucumber, celery, watermelon etc. Plus potassium rich food like banana, cottage cheese, feta etc.

Also one of those micro fibre neck towels that you soak in cold water is amazing. Think they have them on amazon.

Glad to see I’m not going mad. I feel like such a wuss. Supposed to be in the office twice a week but I couldn’t face it today - the Tube is boiling. I have to change my top when I get to work. I’ve just fallen asleep for an hour. Doesn’t help that I’m a few stone overweight - which I’m working on. I don’t want to complain as I love this weather
