How have people found propanolol?

I have long term anxiety which comes and goes and it’s in the form of not nice thoughts.

It stops the racing heart, panic feeling etc so can help you stop spiralling into a panic attack, but it doesn’t help with the thoughts.
I have an AD to help with those.

Same as PP - it works for physical symptoms but does nothing for the racing thoughts. I find guided meditation more effective.

I take it for palpitations but I don't think it would be useful for bad thoughts

Well I take it " as and when" so I usually take it not for physical symptoms but when I'm trying to cope with my reaction to a social situation which just keeps replaying in my mind. I have extreme social anxiety.
I find it does help relax me and keeps the thoughts at bay. And allows me to switch off enough to sleep. And allows me to eat properly rather than stopping eating meals.

It's only 10mg tablets I have and when I'm going through a bad episode, as at present actually , I take them 3 times a day and it allows me to eat and actually get some sleep. After a few days I get back on an even keel and can cope without them until the next time.
