Panic attack at a party

I just went to a friend’s party and had to leave as I suddenly felt like I couldn’t breathe and I was going to burst out sobbing.
No reason and it’s really frightened me because this isn’t like me. I was there without DH but knew several other people. I don’t know why I just couldn’t cope. Don’t even know why I’m posting here but it just feels really strange

Ah OP, they are awful. Never had one but my husband has, thought he was having a heart attack. Are you stressed about something else in life at the minute

Empathy here too OP. I had my fair share of these moments at parties - all stemmed from some deep rooted stuff I needed to address in counselling, as well as hormonal/health issues. CBT was really helpful. I also stopped drinking alcohol - I wasn't alcoholic and still enjoy a drink every now and then, but it made these situations far worse than they needed to be. I have much more enjoyable time without drinking now - took waaay too long to realise that would help! Take some time out if you can, lots of self care and looking after yourself, and see if you can identify where the feelings are stemming from. [Flowers] because some people/strangers can be pretty horrible when you're feeling vulnerable like that, but I imagine it's your sub-conscious trying to alert you to something you need to address.
