I took one 50mg dose of sertraline on Tuesday by the end of the day my anxiety was 10-fold, so I stopped taking. Wednesday was still buzzed and anxious, Thursday not so bad. Today Friday my anxiety is worse than ever!

Speak to your gp. I started sertraline nearly 2 weeks ago, previously been on citalopram on and off for years and it didn’t seem to be working this time. My GP suggested 4 days of halving the tablet (so 25mg) and I was ok at first, but when I took first full 50mg ….. well….. intrusive thoughts, heart pounding, so restless at night I didn’t know what to do with myself, and anxiety like never before even though I’ve had anxiety in the past but this time I had bad depression but anxiety relatively controlled, and never had such intense intrusive thoughts 🤦🏻‍♀️ anyway I stuck with it but continued to just take 25mg ….. I’m now on day 11 and my anxiety is no where near as bad (even though I have a lot going on in life that has prompted this low mood), I am getting nausea but I expected that. It maybe that this is not right for you, or maybe you need to build up gradually.
i feel for you I really do, take care of yourself xxx

Thanks for your reply. It's definitely not for me.. I'll be glad when it's finally left my system. 🙂 Hope you get to your happy place soon. X

i decided the anxiety and my inability to deal with my separation I’ve gone to my GP and he has put me on Sertraline. I am on day 4 and feel dreadful I feel more anxious, exhausted and it’s like I’m in a fog feeling nauseous Can someone tell me if this goes. I was hoping for some respite instead I feel like I’m going to have a break down. I did 3 days of 25mg today was 50mg GP told me to do this. Any suggestions 🙏🏻

Hi Gina, they say it gets better, but some people don't get on well with it. A friend said he was initially on sertraline but stopped it after a week. He is now on fluoxetine 20mg and is much better for it. I'll be talking with my GP on Monday. Talk with yours too?

I guess GP’s just don’t have the time to offer more information so it’s for people to share experience when at all possible I’m not sure how else to ask. I just want to feel better. I don’t even know how I got to this point that I needed antidepressants. Xxx

I know exactly what you are saying. I've ended up looking after my Mam who had a major Op 18month ago, she eventually recovered from that then was diagnosed with late onset Alzheimer's. It has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions and something I've struggled to deal with. Try not to panic, Gina. Ring your GP and explain what's happening and maybe suggest a different drug.
