Therapy fees and payments - confused, odd practice?

I wonder if anyone else had a similar experience.
I have been to therapy before where an agreed fee per session was paid monthly (after service provided). If I could not attend a session I would inform my therapist in advance and we would be ok.
I never missed session however if I was to be a no show or to cancel late I would expect to be charged.
However:
I am now with a new therapist and we are pass 15+ sessions where I informed a week in advance about not being able to attend my next session. Therapist told me that they charge even if I give notice which was a huge surprise to me.
I also mentioned that from June I would like to come every other week as I need more space to process but also financially I can not cope paying for 4 or 5 sessions per month. I can not afford it.
I will be away during summer for weeks and I am now confused (but ashamed to ask) whether I will be charged for therapy that will not take place? To be honest I felt really good until now but all this took me aback to the point I do not want to continue. I understand about the benefits of regularity but if I can not afford it then that is it. I almost feel trapped as if I can not leave when I want. I understand it is a business for the therapist but it is also about service and flexibility.
I wonder what others think?

I cannot believe you are posting again about your therapist and payment issues

did you email her with feedback by the way? The consensus was no!

sorry I do not understand
I have not posted about it before, you must confuse me with another person/ simialr story. If there was a similar thread here before I would appreciate a link as maybe someone else had a similar experience.
