Hi everyone looking for a little help.

I’ve been on Sertraline for about 6 weeks got through the rough couple of weeks with it and thought I was doing better.

but over the past week I can feel the anxiety coming back to say it’s hello. I’m only on 25mg.

My question is did anyone feel better upping it too 50? And how bad were the side affects?

starting to also think I’m suffering with a little social anxiety and I’m worried it’s going to take over. Can Sertraline help with this?

thanks for reading. 😀

Hi I've just gone onto 50mg yesterday, 2 weeks on 25mg. My GP said to increase as I wasn't getting any relief and I feel so low and depressed. So I'm early in this too x

thank you for replying. Hope you start to feel better soon. Think I will need to do the same.

Hi, I was on 25 for quite a while then I had some issues at work with a colleague who was making my life difficult and when I spoke to my gp he said it was an extremely low dose and he thought I was doing great to be on it so long so I upped it. I do feel better for it but I’ve been struggling with my weight since so I hope to go back down once things calm down

Thank you. Did you struggle with any side effects?

I don’t think 25mg is even a therapeutic dose of Sertraline so definitely go ahead and increase it. My OH is on 150mg

I've been on them before recently started again at 50mg going to ask to be put up to 100mg.

I’ve just had my first ever prescription - 50mg with no mention of starting at 25mg.
from what I’ve read on here I plan to take 25mg for 2 weeks then go on to 50mg.

its strange how we all start off on different doses

ByFastTiger · 26/04/2025 22:38

It’s the lowest dosage here in the uk. I was very worried about side effects as had a horrible time on another anti depressant. Gp agreed for 25 but she did mention it was a very low dosage.

From the NHS website :-

Dosage and strength
Sertraline is available as 25mg, 50mg or 100mg tablets.
The usual dose of sertraline is 50mg a day in adults. But your doctor may start you on a lower dose, then increase it gradually to a maximum dose of 200mg a day.

The reason they start you on such a low dose is a lot of people can feel a bit sick and a bit out of sorts for the first couple of weeks so they usually gradually increase the dose I'm 100 mg of sertraline and 30mg of mirtazpine.sertraline does wonders for my PTSD but it does take around 6 to 8 weeks to start getting benefits however if you feel it's not working definitely speak with your GP

150mg here… started years ago on 50mg. It has changed my life. Keeps me on an even keel.
