yes you will all shout at me, but i took ecstasy on my birthday at the weekend, to give me a lift, and i did have a fab time.

However now i am suicidal, and have severe pms, and also ex's baby has just been born.

Does anyone know if ecstasy totally messes up your anti depressants in your brain??
i am on 40mg a day of citalopram. i also had about 10 vodkas on the night too.

please dont throw lectures my way, i felt so bad last night i had to call samaritans.

Well yes, as you are having depressants as well as uppers at the same time. So the comedown will be dreadful. Even if you had just had ten vodkas, the alcohol itself will make you feel low. You need to look after yourself for a few days, is there anyone you can stay with until you have rid all the shit out of your body and go back on an even keel.

It is not for anyone to judge you, only you know how you felt and why you took it.

No point in shouting at you .

No idea what the effects of e are, sorry.

You are going through a rough patch, and life sucks sometimes.

allgonebellyup · 16/05/2008 18:00

but i did the drugs on sat night and i didnt start feeling terrible til thursday!!i thought i had got away with not having a downer.. im hoping it is more severe pmt.

Ecstasy can stay in your body for five days depending on your size etc.

It will be a mixture of things no doubt, it has been fighting against your ad's. Also if you had a really good night out then you probably feel a bit lonely ad crappy. Especially if you are thinking about your x. Sometimes i am best off staying in as when i get home to an empty house i feel crap.

Just try and focus on the fact that if you can feel so low so suddenly then the reverse can happen, no?

Try and just do things to look after yourself, no extremes and learn to relax. Deal with the anxiety. Drink plenty of water, dress in comfy clothes after a long bath. Maybe try meditation or yoga and learn to feel good in your own skin again.

Yeh it's tough sometimes, i am going out tonight as i feel crap in my own company but i don't really want to be in anyone elses. If that makes sense!

Retail therapy fab.

You will feel better - hang in there. But please don't do it again - street drugs when you already have a mental illness are a prticularly bad idea but I guess you know that know. Hope you feel better soon.

Janni · 16/05/2008 22:56

Don't know about ecstasy, but do know that excess alcohol will leave you feeling more depressed. What support are you getting at the moment?

scottishmummy · 16/05/2008 23:03

phone the out of hours mental health crisis team.leave the cmht a msg.get an appt for Mon.sort this out get some support

mummyblue · 16/05/2008 23:20

You DO need professional help - I mean a mental health support. Ectasy, and Vodka and citalopran harm your brain, it causes severe damage in your body. You are entering a way of no return, so please call for help. You have a child, must think about that. No man values as much as your life.

lucyellensmum · 16/05/2008 23:30

hang on in there agbu - dont mess with drugs like this, its a downward spiral, i know two people who are not here to tell the tale, one of them leaving behind children and grandchildren he will never see.

Whoever gave you this needs fucking stringing up

CombustibleLemon · 16/05/2008 23:35

Ecstacy works by messing with your seratonin levels. Citalopram also works on your seratonin levels. Yes, the pills mess up the effects of your anti-depressants, and yes the alcohol (a depressant) will make you feel worse. Get some proper support.

No lectures, just try and get some help to see you through until your mood stabilises again. Calling the Samaritans was a really sensible thing to do. I hope you feel better soon.

PurpleOne · 17/05/2008 02:07

Just look after yourself AGBU. Do what you need to do, see your gp if you need to?
treat yourself.

Had a similar experince although dont think it was e, was a by product. god, i felt shit for days.

You did the right thing thing in calling the Samaritans. I echo everything said here.

Just take good care of yourself, be gentle, spend time with dc's...and no stress.

take it easy x hope you feel better soon x

allgonebellyup · 17/05/2008 10:40

i feel a LOT LOT better this morning, even though weather is foul.

thanks for the support, i will NOT be touching rec drugs again!
i did also have the most severe PMT which i get frequently and it often leaves me suicidal at the best of times.
Now my period came in the middle of the night i feel so much happier!!

(Does anyone know what help i can get for severe PMT whilst also being on citalopram?? Oestrogen, etc?)

scottishmummy · 17/05/2008 17:30

you need to talk to your cmht and or CPN, you sound overwhelmed, dont bottle it up

NotABanana · 17/05/2008 17:37

Try Agnus Castus for the PMT and no alcohol - you are not meant to drink when on citalopram.

I hope you feel better soon.

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 17/05/2008 17:39

Probably a bit late now, but 5-HTP can really help with E come-downs as it's a natural serotonin boost. It does contain valerian though, so if you have low BP you shouldn't take it. I'd also check with pharmacist about taking it with citalopram.

Plenty of bananas for potassium as well.

Agree with scottishmummy - have a chat with your CMHT. thinking of you. xxx

allgonebellyup · 17/05/2008 18:35

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 17/05/2008 18:59
