Sertraline - how long?

Hi there. I’ve suffered with anxiety and depression for a long time and recently Escitalopram stopped working for me.

I’ve been moved onto Sertraline and wondered how long people have found it takes to kick in. I’m moving up doses currently to match the strength of Escitalopram - I’ve been on 150mg for 3 days and it hasn’t done anything yet which I expect.

but would be good to know how long people have found it’s taken to work.

I felt a significant change after three weeks on 50mg of Sertraline

I was going to say a fortnight to three weeks.

Thanks both - I keep reading horror stories of 12 weeks or never! 2/3 weeks is manageable.

2/3 weeks here too. Push through the initial sick feeling, or panic. They soon tail off. I started on 100mg and went up to 150 to really knock it on the head. On a nice maintenance dose of 25mg now, 4 years on. It’s amazing stuff

Thank you - I’m struggling with my depression, the anxiety seems to have alleviated which is a blessing.

Just to say it's quite common to have a couple of days of bad anxiety and panic after you've been on it a couple of weeks - this happened to me but please don't worry if it happens to you as it does pass quite quickly and then things settle down ( obviously get in touch with your doctor if you're worried) I'm now on 150 and it's really making a difference.
