Mental health going downhill

My mental health has been spiralling over the past week. I have underlying anxiety has this has been triggered by my youngest, and dear son, returning from university for the Easter Break. I find the comings and going difficult as they trigger my separation anxiety. I am finding it very tough now to shift the feelings of being on edge, and unsettled. Anyone around for a handhold?

Rather than trying to shift it (always tough with an emotion) can you accept that it will be a difficult time when he leaves but that you'll enjoy him being at home anyway? Allowing feelings often dissipates them whereas fighting them puts the spotlight on them.

Thank you. I am trying to focus on that but at the moment I am in quagmire of very negative emotions. I feel on high alert. I need to de-escalate these emotions as they are getting too intense.

Try box breathing or, with a bit more time, progressive muscle relaxation. Lots of Youtube videos on both.
