Feeling sad and low after CBT

I am on session 4 of CBT. I have been sent here as I was in a horrible accident and I’ve still not moved on from it. We are still on (but moving on next time) talking about my childhood and upbringing, my values etc.

I am engaging with it. However, doing the tasks (questionnaires, rankings) has just made me feel really sad. I’m dredging up things I’ve buried deep down, and managed for decades. I had it 2 days ago, and felt sad afterwards, but the day after I sobbed for an hour and felt really anxious which wrecked my day.

Is this normal?

Yes, it's very normal, and proves that you hadn't dealt with it, you had just out it in a box. Unfortunately with these boxes stuff tends to leak out into your everyday, and usually without you noticing. Stick with it, it will help, even if it's hard. Good luck and hugs x
