When do side effects from antidepressants kick in?

Just that really. I’ve been taking fluoxetine for almost a week and so far no side effects at all. Have I just been lucky or does it take longer for the yuckiness to appear? Thx

You might get some when/if you move to a higher dose but I've taken lots of different ADs in my time and I very rarely get side effects.

I never had any side effects from fluoxetine!

I got a really bad itchy, skin rash from fluoxetine. Apparently it’s not common but not unknown. It kicked in after about a month.

Gave me nausea and clenched jaw after the first couple of doses. If you are not experiencing side-effects after a week then that's an encouraging sign because they usually present fairly quickly.

I ended up with really heightened anxiety, however I don't know if it was a side effect, or be cause I came off citalopram at the same time. I increased my dose a week ago and now have insomnia 🙃

Im week 3 into a dose increase to 40mg. Was on 20mg for 4 weeks before & it was horrible.
Im still anxious as hell & jittery & feel abit odd. Waking up to anxiety attacks too. Hoping it passes soon before i give up hope lol

Hi! I had horrible night sweats and awful dreams… and not much change in moods. I was on them for a couple of months in total and am now trying Sertraline - also sweating and dreaming and not sleeping. I’ve only been going for a couple of weeks but am so so tired from the broken nights…

@onestepfurtheragain Oh you had a rough ride too. Did you switch because it wasnt changing your mood?? I tried Sertraline for 10days & i was quite poorly on them!
I wonder if you need mirtazepan or whatever its called as that ones good for sleep i believe.
