Worried about DS

My DS is 18 and has dyspraxia and dyslexia. He has always had a tendency to over-think things but also, for the last few years he has felt the need to ask me the same series of questions multiple times a day seeking constant reassurance over things like whether his friends really like him, is he ugly, should he have a girlfriend etc. I give him the same answers each time and try my best to reassure but he just has this compulsion to ask the questions. I’m wondering if he has OCD? As he is 18 it’s obviously up to him to seek help if he wants it but I know that just me mentioning that he might have a problem will just add further to his worries and I’m sure he’ll be reluctant to talk to anyone about it.

Does it sound like OCD? Any advice as to how I can help him?

How about, "I think you're fine, and wonderful as you are, but I also know that I'm your parent and maybe it's hard to trust me, so maybe you'd believe it more if you talked to a therapist and they helped you to trust it?"

@ChilliConCarneigh - thank you, that’s a really good way to approach him.
