Feeling of Impending Doom

I have been Citalopram 40mg for 2 years now. It has helped me rationalise things and has always made me feel better
I have a family and children, a decent job and house but for the last few weeks I cannot for the life of me shift this awful feeling of impending doom - like something horrible is about to happen. Nothing is triggering me but I can’t keep feeling this way.

How old are you? It's a common symptom of peri-menopause.

How long have you been feeling it? If it's come on recently it can be a symptom of heart issues. Would be worth a trip to the gp.

If menopause and cardiac issues can be ruled out, have you thought about seeing a psychoanalyst? Sounds like 'nameless dread' and can possibly be fixed in therapy.

I’m 34

I would say it started 6 months ago and was only occasionally but it is now almost everyday

I think talking to your doctor might be a good starting point.

An overactive thyroid can also cause this symptom.
