Does anybody have Avoidant Personality Disorder?

If so, what do you do to help? Have you found CBT/meds, or a combo helpful? I have realised I have had this from childhood, which I think has been caused by an emotionally unavailable Mother.

It is exhausting. I'm looking to hear of any experiences, and if it has gotten any better, or how you're coping with it?

I feel so alone with it, like I'm an imposter in my own body at times.

I do. After a really difficult year last year when I went no contact with my mother, I am now doing schema therapy. Meds help but I found CBT wasn't effective enough.

Thank you, I am sorry you've been suffering too. I haven't heard of schema, but I will look it up. Are you finding that it is helpful? What kind of medication do they prescribe, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm already on some meds for a separate neurological condition so wonder if i could add anything.
I have my reservations on CBT, because it is deep rooted, having been going on since childhood. I have researched all of the CBT methods and I can't see them helping me, so it is interesting that you have said that. I know how you're supposed to think to be healthy, but this is a strong visceral response.
