Palpitations

Hi everyone,

first thread on Mumsnet.

Ive been on Sertraline (for OCD and anxiety) for nearly four years and propanolol on demand. I rarely take propanolol but the last couple of days I’ve been experiencing terrible anxiety accompanied with palpitations. My heart is pounding and my body feels so restless. However, my pulse is in the normal range. So I guess my question is do palpitations always come with a high pulse? I’ve taken one 10mg tablet of Propanolol but it doesn’t seem to do much. What are other people taking and do you only take it with a high pulse? I’m expecting my period soon so think the anxiety surge is related.

I started palpitations and found out it was the menopause. Could it be that?

I take 2 when that happens and that works. 1 is the lowest dose

I’m 39 and been feeling like this for a while. I reckon peri could play a role here. Were your palpitations high heart rate? Or just thumping but heart rate actually normal?
